Background: Ricardo are world leaders in the development of powertrain and vehicle technology, employing 1,500 staff worldwide. Ricardo Software is responsible for the development, sales and support of advanced engineering analysis software for power-train and vehicle systems, with a worldwide customer base including major automotive manufacturers and tier one suppliers. Our software products comprise tools for the analysis of fluid and mechanical engine, powertrain and vehicle systems, with well-established brands such as WAVE, VECTIS and VALDYN.

Job Description: A vacancy has arisen for a software developer based at our Prague Technical Centre to join the team that develops our Graphical User Interface (GUI) for our suite of products. The successful applicant will become a member of the development team and be responsible for the design and implementation of various GUI features and graphical libraries. As such the candidate will have strong programming skills on Unix and Windows systems.

It is expected that applicants will have the following qualifications and skills:
- Applicants should be at least degree-qualified in Computer Science.
- The interests and skills of the applicants should include graphics development.
- 2+ years of experience in software development using C++ for Unix or Windows based systems.
- Ability to work independently as well as with others in a geographically diverse team environment.

It is desirable, though not essential, that applicants will have the following skills and interests:
- Knowledge of Qt graphics toolkit
- An interest in engines/mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of agile development practices

The role will involve
- Creating requirements and design specifications for software enhancements.
- Delivery of software projects to specification and on time to ISO 9000/TickIT quality standards with appropriate quality documentation and reviews.
- Maintaining and enhancing existing software
- Liaising with other department members as necessary to obtain detailed requirements from them.
